John Martinez, 65, of Bay City passed away March 16, 2010. He was born June 24, 1944 in Egypt, TX to Ysidoro and Crecenciana Martinez. John worked as service foreman for the Bay City Gas Company for 30 years. He was a beloved husband, father, son, brother, father-in-law and uncle. John was always ready for an adventure and met no strangers along the way.

His father preceded him in death. Survivors include his wife of 33 years Genevieve Robles Martinez of Bay City; mother "Chana" Martinez of Bay City; daughters Jennifer Vondra & husband Carl of Waco and Joni Robles-Martinez Silva & husband Rene of Killeen; sisters Mary Ann Martinez, Lucy Diaz & Lydia Flores all of Bay City; brothers Luke Martin of Belton, TX and Sam Martinez of Houston.

A prayer service will be held at 6:00 PM Thursday, March 18, 2010 at Taylor Bros. Funeral Home. Funeral service will be 10:00 AM Friday, March 19, 2010 at Taylor Bros. Funeral Home with Rev. Alex Lopez and Rev. Candido Gonzales officiating. Interment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park in Van Vleck. Pallbearers will be Fidel Pesina, Tony Oros, Leonard Robles, Carl Vondra, Rene Silva and Vince Diaz. Matt Monreal, Joe De La Rosa, Fred Jack and Manuel Olvera will serve as honorary pallbearers.
