John Stephen Laughlin, 78, of Bay City passed away December 19, 2024. He was born September 30, 1946 in Eagle Lake, Texas to the late Dr. Jones Connally Laughlin and Avis Ann Laughlin (Moorehouse).

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 51 years, Bobbie Sue Laughlin.

He is survived by his son Jerod Jones Laughlin and daughter-in-law Wendy Mealer, grandson Jaspa John Laughlin, and his beloved companion Vickie Jones.  He is also survived by sister Mary Lou Fitzpatrick of Austin Texas, brother and sister-in-law Tom & Charmaine Laughlin of Justin Texas, and brother and sister-in-law Joseph & Theresa Laughlin of Lake Jackson Texas.

John served honorably in the US Army and Army Reserve. In 1968 graduated flight school becoming a commercial airline pilot for American Flyers.  John went back to school to study accounting and become a CPA. His first accounting job brought him to Bay City in 1977 where he grew deep roots into the community that welcomed him and his family. John was an avid fisherman, hunter, diver and later in life a golfer.

Visitation will begin at 1:00 PM Friday, January 3, 2025 at Taylor Bros. Funeral Home.  A celebration of his life will begin at 2:00 PM with Rev. Bill Bullard officiating.  Honorary pallbearers are Joe Crane, Jay Hubbard, Frank Hurley III, Bill Newton, Erwin Ward, and Bob Watts.
