John Louis Johnson, 90, of Bay City passed away September 19, 2020. He was born August 15, 1930 in "Old Moulton", Flatonia, TX to the late James Louis Johnson and Iola Mae Cooper Johnson.

John worked in the oil field industry across Texas early in his career, starting as a "derrick man" and ending his work life in the construction industry. John was an outstanding fisherman providing fresh shrimp, oysters, flounder and catfish for his family. He also enjoyed gardening, boating water skiing, watching the Astros and spending time with his grand and great grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings Woodrow Wilson Johnson, Laura Mae Homuth Zouzalik, Irene Wenske, Glyn Johnson, Cooper Johnson, Gertrude Branecky, Winnie Bohnsteadt and Una Dell Johnson.

Survivors include his wife of 68 years, Bessie Lillie Janecka Johnson; children Deborah Kennedy (Chuck), Karen Ryman (Duane), Patricia Lindsay (John), A. J. Johnson (Ronica) and Ronald Louis Johnson (Marilyn); sisters Fern Profiri and Dorothy Schubert; brother David Johnson (Teenie); grandchildren Elizabeth Gail Kennedy, Mary Margaret Kennedy (Jon Barkowsky), William Joseph Kennedy, Jeremy Duane Ryman (Aleia), Colleen Sue Henderson (Gerald), Matthew Lindsay, David Lindsay, Ben Johnson (Lynn), Lacey Daugherty (Mike) and Brittany Johnson and by 10 great grandchildren.

Family members and close friends are invited to a visitation at 1:00 PM Friday, September 25, 2020 at Taylor Bros. Funeral Home. Graveside services will follow at 2:00 PM at Roselawn Memorial Park in Van Vleck. Father Dalton Ervin and Sister Valerie Janecka will officiate.
