John Anthony Armatta passed away on February 18, 2019. He was born on July 18, 1971 in Bay City, TX to Sidney and Betty Armatta. He graduated from Bay City High School in 1990. On November 14, 1992, John married his high school sweetheart Lori Wilson. John was a third generation Matagorda County farmer. He volunteered on the Matagorda County Fair Board for 12 years and was actively involved with the Holding Pen Club. John served on the Matagorda County Ducks Unlimited committee and on the Bay City Little League Board, where he was awarded Lifetime Achievement for his service. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, coaching baseball, and watching the Houston Astros and western movies with his family. He was especially proud of his children's achievements.
He is survived by his wife Lori and children Sydney and John Thomas; mother-in-law Geneva Taylor; sister Susan Novak and husband Joe; brother Steven Armatta and wife Stefanie; sister-in-law Kimberley Cooper and husband Steve; sister-in-law Rhonda Huitt and husband Hank; brother-in-law Steven Wilson and wife Gina; nieces and nephews Renee Laslie, Michelle Frankum and husband Dillon, Alexis Turner and husband Justin, Shelby Cooper, Bryson and Blake Huitt, Alise and Chance Wilson, Marlie and Steelie Armatta; great niece Jentry Laslie and great nephew Denton Frankum.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Sidney and Betty Armatta; father-in-law Roger D. Wilson, uncle Matthew Armatta, nephew John David Popek, and dear friends Jim Tatum and Stephen Fair.
The family requests your attendance at the vigil on Friday, February 22 from 5-7 p.m. at Taylor Brothers Funeral Home in Bay City, TX. Funeral Mass will be at Holy Cross Catholic Church on Saturday, February 23, 2019 at 10 am. Burial services will be at St. Francisville Cemetery in Wadsworth, TX immediately following the mass.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations sent to The Holding Pen Club, P.O. Box 108 Bay City, TX 77404-0108.
