Joe Alan Rowland, 67, of Bay City passed away April 17, 2019. He was born January 21, 1952 in Cameron, TX to the late Gerald Rowland and Mildred Alene Delvige Rowland.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Susan Lanham Rowland.

Survivors include daughter Kara Cowart (Ron) of Bay City; son Grant Rowland (Krystal) of Spring, TX; brother Ronnie Rowland (June) of Bay City, grandchildren Tyler Taylor, Logan Rowland, Mason and Reid Cowart, and niece Ashley Rowland.

Joe wore many different hats throughout his lifetime. He was a beloved husband and father and an outstanding PaPa Joe to his four grandsons. He spent 22 years working at Celanese and after retiring from there he went back to his first love – teaching. He spent the next 17 years teaching chemistry (and a couple of other sciences) at Tidehaven High School. He dearly loved his students and co-workers at THS, he loved his family unconditionally, and he loved his God more than anything.

A memorial service celebrating his life will be 10:00 AM Monday, April 22, 2019 at the First Baptist Church with Dr. Mike Zimmerman officiating. A time of visitation will follow immediately after the service in the FBC gym.
