Joe Kelly, 67, of Bay City passed away July 13, 2014. He was born August 9, 1946 in Bay City, TX to George Bud Kelly and Raye Tillmon Kelly. He and his father co-owned Kelly's Car Care in Bay City for many years.
He loved to fish and cook, especially bar-b-que, but most of all , he loved spending time with his 3 grandchildren. His favorite pastime was cheering on those girls at the softball fields.
His father preceded him in death. Survivors include his mother Raye Kelly of Bay City; wife Carol Kelly of Bay City; daughters Allison Lawhon and Alisha Kelly both of Bay City; sister Peggy Roone & husband Bill of Bay City; grandchildren Karley Kelly, Sydney Lawhon and Brody Lawhon; nephew Paul Roome & wife Bridget, niece Patricia Bell and husband Doug; uncle & aunt Jay & June Tillmon; close cousins Kelley Ann Young,Nell McKinney, John Jennings, Gloria Ziegenhals and Billy Kelly as well as numerous other relatives and friends.
The family will receive friends and relatives from 12 Noon until 1:30 pm Wednesday at the funeral home. Funeral service will be 3:00 PM Wednesday, July 16, 2014 at the First Baptist Church in Van Vleck with Rev. Bob Hobbins and Rev. Chester Sassman officiating. Interment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Bubba Simons, Christopher Sneath, Bobby Tucker, John Jennings, Chris Hinman and Matt Lawhon.
