Jimmy Charles Shimek, 66, of Bay City passed away Thursday, March 29, 2012. He was born October 13, 1945 in Houston to the late Charlie & Cecilia Shimek. Jimmy moved to Bay City in 1967 to begin working at Celanese. He has since retired. Jimmy loved his family and was a kind and generous person to all. He always loved to laugh. Jimmy was a member of Holy Cross Catholic Church. Many will miss him.

Jimmy is survived by his wife of 46 years: Linda Humphrey Shimek of Bay City; their 2 children: Michael & Kim Shimek of Bay City and Tina & Craig Slaughter of Palacios; 6 grandchildren: Amber and John Michael Shimek, Chelsea, Caitlyn, Cameron, and Cade Slaughter; and 3 sisters: Charlene & John Boriskie, Shirley & Homer Becher, and Terry & Charles Westbrook. He was preceded in death by his parents: Charlie & Cecilia Shimek.

A rosary will be recited 7:00 PM Tuesday, April 3, 2012 at Taylor Bros. Funeral Home. A mass will be held 2:00 PM Wednesday, April 4, 2012 at Holy Cross Catholic Church with Father Greg Korenek officiating. Interment will follow at St. Peter's Catholic Cemetery in Blessing. Pallbearers will be: Tony Piwonka, Jeff Piwonka, Chris Piwonka, James Boriski, Larry Busha, Mike Wanjura, Ray Skaines, and Homer Becher.
