Charles "Jimmy" Crum, Jr., 71, of Bay City passed away December 28, 2013. He was born May 14, 1942 in Haynesville, LA to the late Charles Jimmy Crum, Sr. and Jewell Marie Ross Crum. He was a member of Nichols Street Church of Christ. Jimmy grew up in an oil field family, moving from town to town throughout his youth, but he always considered Bay City his childhood home. He graduated from Buffalo High School in Buffalo, TX in 1961. He joined his father in the oil field in early adulthood, and then spent his most productive years as a small business owner and entrepreneur, having successfully bought, refurbished and sold numerous restaurants and a service station across southeast Texas. In 2004 he retired back to Bay City and enjoyed his final years with lifelong friends and new acquaintances from his church family.
Survivors include Darlene Hazlewood; son Matthew Crum & wife Sherri; step-children Deanna Powell & husband Jim, and Vernon Emshoff & wife Tory; grandchildren Tyler and Caiden Crum, Chelsea, Megan and Kaitie Emshoff & Justin & wife Tracy, JD and Scott Powell.
The family will receive friends and relatives from 5pm until 7pm Thursday at Taylor Bros. Funeral Home. The funeral service will be 2:00 PM Friday, January 3, 2014 at Nichols Street Church of Christ with Bro. Larry Macomber officiating. Interment will follow at Cedarvale Cemetery in Bay City.
Pallbearers will be: Vernon Emshoff, Shane Finch, E. J. Thormaehlen, Willie Rollins, Frank Volkmer, and Terry Baker.
In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made out to Nichols Street Church of Christ.
