Obituary

Jimmie Lee Jurek of Danevang, Texas, formerly a long-time resident of Bay City, passed away Friday, April 27, 2007 at the age of 72. Jimmie was born April 15, 1935 in Carnegie, Oklahoma to Jim and Emilie Jurek.

Jimmie is survived by his wife, Myrna; sons Jimmy and wife Lucy of Sugar Land and Tim and wife Tracy of Victoria; daughters Judy and husband Brent Nance of Kyle and Paula and husband Mitch Abshier of Wadsworth; stepsons Wayne and wife Kim Hansen of Port Lavaca, Bobby and wife Susan Hansen of Angleton and Dean and wife Shana Hansen of Danevang; granddaughters Leslie and husband Matt Work of Katy, Carrie Nance of Kyle, and Lindsey Abshier of Wadsworth; grandson Taylor Abshier of Wadsworth, step grandsons Matthew, Blake, Garrett, Sean and Grady Hansen; and step granddaughter Johanna Hansen.

Jimmie was preceded in death by his parents, wife Lois, brothers Anthony and Edward and step granddaughter Lillian Hansen.

Jimmie was a long-time member of Holy Cross Catholic Church, a member of the Knights of Columbus Council #3070 where he served as Grand Knight. He retired after a 38-year career with Central Power and Light Company. He earned the rank of Eagle Scout, the highest rank attainable, in the Boy Scouts of America and also served as Scout Master of Troop 226 in Bay City. The highest accolade Jimmie will be remembered for by his family and friends is his love of family; he was an extremely loving husband, father and grandfather.

A rosary will be held at 7:00 PM Monday, April 30, 2007at Taylor Brothers Funeral Home, 2313 Avenue I, Bay City. Funeral services will be held 10:00 AM Wednesday, May 2, 2007 at the Holy Cross Catholic Church, 2001 Katy, Bay City with Rev. Casey Jarzombek officiating. Interment will following at Cedarvale Cemetery in Bay City.
