Jerry Wayne Etgen, 41, of Bay City, passed away Sunday, June 17, 2007. He was born September 21, 1965 in Waco, TX to Marvin Etgen and Lilla Pauline Caldwell Etgen. He was a resident of Bay City for the past 37 years and a member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church in Bay City. He attended the Edith Armstrong Workshop for the Mentally Handicapped, was an avid participant in the Special Olympics, was a former Bay City Volunteer Fire Dept. Mascot and enjoyed camping and the outdoors.
He is survived by his mother: Pauline Etgen; brothers: David Michael Etgen and Marvin Paul Etgen; grandmother: JoAn Caldwell; uncle: Jerry M. Caldwell, all of Bay City; and his aunt: Coco Caldwell of Victoria. He was preceded in death by his father: Marvin Etgen; by his grandparents: Otha Caldwell, Willie and Emma Etgen; and his aunt: JoAnn Etgen.
The family will receive visitors from 6 to 8 PM Tuesday, at Taylor Bros. Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Wednesday, June 20, 2007 at St. Paul's United Methodist Church with Rev. Tom Morgan and Bro. Steve Sieben officiating. Pallbearers will be Randy Frontz, A.T. Richardson, Harvey Bennett, J.R. Black, Robert Etgen, Jeff Elliott, Pete Hale and Greg Crain. Honorary pallbearers are Alan Caldwell and members of the Bay City Volunteer Fire Dept.
Memorials may be made to St. Paul's United Methodist Church or to the ARC of Matagorda County.
