Jean Kendall Henry, age 73, passed away on August 15, 2015, at her residence in Bay City, Texas.
Jean was born on November 25, 1941, in Fort Smith, Arkansas, to the late Knight Phillip Kendall and Lottie Maye Abernathy Kendall. She graduated from Sam Houston High School in Houston, Texas, in 1960 and received a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Southwest Texas State Teacher's College in 1964 with a double major in English and Spanish and a minor in French.
Jean held a lifetime high school teaching certificate. She taught at the elementary and high school levels and also taught English second language courses to adults in evening classes offered by Wharton County Junior College.
Jean was a member of the First Baptist Church of Bay City, Texas. Her knowledge and love of the Spanish language led her to serve as pianist and Sunday School Teacher at Emanuel Baptist Church in Bay City for many years.
Jean is survived by her husband, Herbert W. Henry, of Bay City; her son, Phillip Lee Henry and wife Kelly, of East Bernard; her daughter, Holly Suzanne Henry, of San Antonio; her sister, Joan Kendall Mangum, of Baytown; her brother Gary Phillip Kendall and wife Gaye, of Houston; and her two grandchildren, Austin Sterling Henry and Hailey Mae Henry, of East Bernard.
Visitation will be held at Taylor Bros. Funeral Home in Bay City at 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 20, 2015. Funeral services will be held at the First Baptist Church of Bay City at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, August 21, 2015. Burial services will be held at Garden of Memories Cemetery in El Campo following funeral services.
Pallbearers will be Jason Kendall, Michael Yusim, Delbert Cullen Mangum, III, Jason Henry, Luis Alvarado, and George Colesio.
