Jean Vondre Fehmel, 75, of Bay City, TX passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on March 11, 2019. She was born January 22, 1944 in Laredo, TX to Clyde and Alice Tinnin. Jean graduated from Wharton High School in 1960. She then attended Wharton Junior College where she was a member of the Starlette Dance Team and went on to attend Stephen F. Austin State University.
Jean has been a long-time resident of Matagorda County, where she has been a successful owner and broker of Professional Realty Group. She dedicated her time to the Bay City community as a businesswoman, active member of the Boys and Girls Club, Chamber of Commerce and past president of the Matagorda County Board of Realtors and Bay City Rotary Club. Through the Rotary Club, Jean served as a host to foreign exchange students and was recognized as a Paul Harris Fellow.
In 1989, Jean was instrumental in bringing CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates for children) serving Matagorda County and has served as president of the board since 2014. CASA supports and promotes court appointed volunteer advocacy so every abused or neglected child can be safe, have a permanent home and have the opportunity to thrive. In 2014, through Jean's leadership, the Children's Store located on the square in Bay City, TX was established, as a non-profit organization to support CASA Matagorda County.
She is survived by her husband, Ronnie Fehmel of Bay City, TX; her sisters Novie Tinnin Smith and Clydie Jan Tinnin of Bay City; her brothers Mark Tinnin and wife Karen of Brazoria, TX and Ben Tinnin and wife Rosa of New Braunfels, TX; her sons Jimmie Pavlu, Jr. and wife Gina of Halletsville, TX, Joel Pavlu and wife Jennifer of Mansfield, TX and Jonathan Fehmel and wife Susan of Bay City, TX; her daughter Jill Oates and husband Kelly of Austin, TX; her step-daughter Wendy Kirkby and husband Brett of Naples, FL; and by her grandchildren Chad, Cameron, Connor, Alana, Addisyn, Mason, Haylee, Peyton, Logan and many loving extended family members.
Jean was a member of St. Mark's Episcopal Church in Bay City, TX . She was a faithful servant to her church community and to God.
Jean was always on the go! She enjoyed sharing good times with family and friends, traveling all over the world, playing in her weekly card game with her girlfriends, going to the movies, casinos and shopping trips to Houston.
She will be greatly missed by all who knew her. Jean's loving heart and passion to live life to the fullest will remain with us always.
The family will receive friends and relatives from 5PM until 7PM Thursday, March 14, 2019 at Taylor Bros. Funeral Home. Funeral service will be 10:00 AM Friday, March 15, 2019 at St. Mark's Episcopal Church with Rev. Jack Myer officiating. Interment will follow at Cedarvale Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Chad Pavlu, Cameron Oates, Conner Oates, Grant Cornett, Derek Brown, Matt Murray, Trent Tinnin and Riley Tinnin. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Stewart Savage, Mason Pavlu and Logan Kirkby.
