Jatorien R. Travis, 19, of Bay City, Texas, passed away on October 15, 2019, in Newport News, VA. He was born April 11, 2000 in Houston, TX to Donald and Valerie Travis.

Jatorien attended Tidehaven High School for majority of his school career and graduated from Bay City High School May 25, 2018. After completing high school Jatorien chose to serve his country by pursuing a career in the U.S. Army and had recently been promoted to Private First Class.

Jatorien was an amazing husband, father, son, and friend who managed to make an impact on everyone he met. He loved to go fishing, take his children to the park, and spend time with his friends and family. Jatorien was a very kind hearted, funny, and respectful person. He was passionately protective of his friends and family and would give the shirt off his back if he thought it would help. His smile could brighten any room and the sound of his laugh would always put you at ease. He had a way of making you feel better no matter what you were going through.

Jatorien is preceded in death by grandparents Rachel and Irwin Travis. He is survived by his children Olivia and Jeremiah Travis; his wife Peggy Travis; parents Donald and Valerie Travis; mother-in-law Tanesha King; siblings Sarissa Moll, Tiffany Travis, Aretha, and Quincy Travis; sister-in-law Mary Johnson; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews, and many, many friends.

Funeral Services for Jatorien Travis will be held Sat., October 26, 2019 at 2:00 PM at Tyre Chapel AME Church, 2517 Ave B, Bay City, Tx. A visitation will be held from 12-2. There will be an interment immediately thereafter at Cedarvale Cemetery.
