Obituary

Jason Anderson, 35, of Midfield died Tuesday, April 20, in the offshore oil rig Deepwater Horizon explosion. Jason was a toolpusher on the DWH and a member of the Midfield Community Church.
Jason was born November 22, 1974, to Billy Fred Anderson and Darlene Wratislaw White in Freeport, Texas. He was their first-born son and second child. He was the baby brother of Stephanie Kathleen.
Following graduation from Tidehaven High School in 1994, Jason attended Wharton County Junior College.
Jason is preceded in death by his grandparents, Rudy and Tilly Wratislaw and Vance and Jean Smith, and also by his sister, Stephanie Kathleen Anderson. Recently, his great-grandmother-in-law, Ann Adams "BomBom" also passed away. The ten other members of his crew should also be mentioned. Jason only worked with the best, Steve Curtis, Dewey Revette, Don Clark, Gordon Jones, Dale Burkeen, Wyatt Kemp, Shane Roshto, Karl Kleppinger, and Blair Manuel.
Jason is survived by: his wife of nearly eight years, Shelley; daughter, Lacy; and son, Ryver; his parents, Billy and Marla Anderson of Palacios, John and Darlene White of Garland; and brother, Jacob Ryne of Garland. He is also survived by his mother-in-law, Suzan Thompson of Bay City; grandmother-in law, Martha Lacy of Bay City; two fathers-in-law, Larry Fitzpatrick of El Campo and Don Simons of Matagorda; two step-brothers, Cody Barrow of Stephenville, and Justin Barrow and fiancé Crystal of Austin; his brother-in-law Bubba Simons and wife Tara of Selkirk; two nieces Madison Simons of Markham and Kinsley Simons of Selkirk; and his best friend in the whole world, Russell Hicks and wife Brandy of Matagorda.
Jason had many close friends who were like brothers to him who will serve as honorary pallbearers. They include Jeff Stewart, Scott Brightwell, Tiler Curtner, Ryan Klekar, Toby Dennis, and Russell Peterson. Russell Hicks, Bubba Simons, and brothers Justin Barrow, Cody Barrow, and Jacob Ryne will also serve as honorary pallbearers.
A memorial service for Jason was held on May 22, 2010, at the First Baptist Church in Bay City where he and Shelley were married. Service were held 2 p.m. with Reverend Clyde Grier officiating.
