Janie Garcia Medina, 66, of Manvel, TX, passed on April 12, 2017. She was born on October 11, 1950, in Premont, TX to the late Guadalupe and Anita Garcia.

A loving mother and doting grandmother, she enjoyed gardening and was affectionately named "Momo" by her grandchildren. She was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church and for many years owned and operated Janie's Day Care Centers in Bay City. More recently she worked at My Great Beginnings and Primrose West, both child care centers in Pearland.

Janie is survived by her four children and their spouses: Tony and Kristi Medina of Manvel, Jennifer and Vicente Diaz of Pearland, Jon and Kelly Medina of Richmond and Jean and Randy Charles of Houston, four siblings and their spouses: Joe and Lupe Deleon Sr. of Bay City, Jesse and Veronica Garcia of Houston, Noe and Sally Garcia of Fort Worth and Amanda and Robert Zepeda of Bay City, seven grandchildren: Colby Medina, Max Diaz, Carson Medina, Makenzie Medina, Caden Medina, Jordan and Jackson Medina and long-time friend and former spouse, Louis Medina Jr. She is preceded in death by her son Michael E. Medina and parents Guadalupe and Anita Garcia.

The family will receive friends and relatives beginning at 9:00am Saturday, April 15, 2017 at the funeral home. Services will follow visitation at 10:00am Saturday with Rev. Candido Gonzales officiating. Interment will follow at Cedarvale Cemetery. Pallbearers are Brandon Cantu, Andrew Medina, Joe Deleon Jr., Mark Deleon, CJ Medina and Louis Alvarado.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Baylor Clinic in Houston.
