Obituary
Janie Samora Hernandez, 97, of Palacios passed away April 3, 2015. She was born September 9, 1917 in Palacios, Texas to the late Jose Samora and Elijia Nunez Samora.
She was preceded in death by her husband Federico Hernandez, daughters Cindy Hernandez, Rachel Buckley and Julia Martinez and a grandson, Fred Martinez.
Survivors include daughters Virginia H. Zarate of Bay City and Esmeralda Hernandez of Palacios; grandchildren Mark Martinez, Pete Martinez, Jr., Regina Martinez, Rene Martinez, Ricky Zarate, Cecilia Zarate, Roland Zarate, Alfred Buckley, Carol Gonzales, Michael Garcia, Carlos Garcia and Karen Valdez; 23 great grandchildren and 16 great-great grandchildren.
A rosary will be recited at 6:00 PM Monday, April 6, 2015 at the Palacios Funeral Home. Funeral Mass will be 2:00 PM Tuesday, April 7, 2015 at St. Anthony's Catholic Church with Rev. Bryan Heyer officiating. Interment will follow at Palacios Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Frederick Martinez, Troy Garza, Justin Gonzales, Patrick Gonzales, Kevin Gonzales and Caleb Valdez. Honorary pallbearers will be Emilio Garcia and Isiah Mata.
