Janet "Bundy"
Cheek

Starts at 3:00 pm (Central time)
Janet Fay “Fay Bundy” (Dutile) Cheek, affectionately known to family and friends simply as “Fay Bundy,” peacefully entered the presence of her Lord and Savior on June 27, 2026. She was born on October 31, 1946, in Natchitoches, Louisiana, to Edmond and Lessie Mae Dutile.
For more than six decades, Bundy faithfully walked beside the love of her life, Ralph Cheek. Together they shared 61 wonderful years of marriage, raising two sons, Kevin and Scott, while building a home firmly rooted in faith, love, and service. During their years in Rayville, Louisiana, Bundy faithfully supported Ralph as he owned and operated Ralph Cheek Jewelers, where together they became well known and respected members of the community.
Bundy’s greatest calling was serving others. She faithfully taught Sunday School for many years at Bethel Baptist Church in Holly Ridge, Louisiana, where she lovingly planted seeds of faith in the hearts of countless young people. Her quiet example of Christian love, humility, and compassion spoke as powerfully as the lessons she taught. She truly embodied the words of Christ by placing the needs of others before her own, living as a servant in every sense of the word.
To family and friends, Bundy’s kitchen was a place where everyone felt welcome. She was famous for her Oreo Delight, homemade gumbo, brownies and red beans & rice, meals that brought loved ones together around the table and created memories that will be cherished for generations. She never sought recognition for herself, finding her greatest joy in caring for others and making sure everyone else was taken care of before she thought of herself.
During the last three years of her life, Bundy and Ralph made their home in Markham, Texas in a custom-built tiny house they affectionately named “Cottontail Cove.” Nestled “out in the pasture,” as Bundy loved to say, the little home quickly became one of her favorite places on earth. She loved its simplicity, the peaceful surroundings, and the quiet life she and Ralph shared there. Yet nothing brought her more joy than hearing the voices of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren as they came to visit. Her face would light up every time they walked through the door, and those moments filled her heart with happiness. Cottontail Cove became a place where treasured memories were made with the people she loved most.
Bundy is survived by her devoted husband of 61 years, Ralph Cheek; her son, Scott Cheek and wife, Bambi, of Markham, Texas; her brother, Gordon Dutile of Brenham, Texas; her sisters, Betty Lockhart and Jackie (and husband Turner) Lawson, both of Natchitoches, Louisiana; her grandchildren, Courtney Anderson, Randy Cheek, Robin Cheek, Karleigh Cheek, and Dillon Cheek; and her cherished great-grandchildren, JJ Quiroga and Gannon Cheek, and she would insist including Ripp, Gunner, Charlie Girl, Daisy Mae, Amos the Longhorn, and Donkey the donkey.
Bundy was preceded in death by her beloved son, Kevin Cheek; her brother, Donald Dutile; and her parents, Edmond and Lessie Mae Dutile.
While Bundy will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her, her family rejoices in the assurance that she is now in the presence of the Savior she faithfully served throughout her life. The seeds of faith she planted continue to bear fruit, and her legacy of love, humility, kindness, and selfless service will live on in the hearts of her family, her church, and the countless lives she influenced.
To the world she was Janet. To her family and countless friends, she was simply “Bundy.” Her gentle spirit, unwavering faith, servant’s heart, and unconditional love have left an imprint that time can never erase. Though she is absent from our sight, her legacy lives on in every life she touched, every child she taught, every meal she lovingly prepared, and every seed of faith she planted.
“Well done, good and faithful servant.”
