Jane Peters Harper, 96, of Bay City passed away Sunday February 26, 2017 at Saint Lukes Hospital in Sugar Land. She was born September 30, 1920 in Red Oak, Iowa to Joseph A and Mabel Wenstrand Peters. She was a resident of Bay City since 1939. Jane attended Oklahoma College for Women and the University of Texas where she was affiliated with Alpha Chi Omega sorority.
Jane was a member of the First United Methodist Church and Fellowship class. She was a charter member of Bay City Junior Service League and Southwest International Belleek Society.
Jane is preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, Hugh Harper and her brother, Lt. Col. Bernard Peters. She is survived by two nieces Nancy Peters-Janover of Novato, California, Linda Peters and husband, George Cotroneio as well as of great nephew Christopher Peters Cotroneio all of Scotts Valley, California, great niece, Alisha La Count and great nephew Charles Harris. Also, her adopted families of Cornelia and Torsten Normann-Petersen and Priscilla Wissink.
The family is grateful to all of Jane's caretakers, particularly Geraldine Slaughter.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the building fund of the First United Methodist Church or a charity of your choice.
Visitation will be 9:00am to Noon on Friday, March 3 at Taylor Bros. Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00pm Friday, March 3, 2017 at the First United Methodist Church, with Rev. Russ Munch officiating. Internment will follow at Cedarvale Cemetery.
