Obituary

James Linvel Page, 81, of Bay City, passed away April 24, 2019. He was born July 29, 1937, in Nacogdoches, Tx, to Robert Shirley and Ruby Jones Page.

Growing up in Refugio, James loved working on and racing cars. He was very active in the Boy Scouts. He joined the Navy in 1955 and served in California, Hawaii and Tennessee, specializing as an aviation mechanic. He married the love of his life, Sandra Linney in 1959, and they began their lives together in Millington, Tennessee. Upon completing his service, they ended up in Bay City. He worked for Rugley Motor Company for 12 years, then he accepted a position with Phillips Petroleum where he retired from to concentrate on another love—his cattle. James loved the Lord, his family, hunting and fishing. He also spent many hours supporting 4-H, Little League, and the MCFLS. He was selected Matagorda County Cattleman of the Year in 1998. One of his childhood dreams was to own his own ranch, which he purchased in 1970 and he was with his cows till he left this earth.

James is preceded in death by his parents, and siblings: Marie Minor, Lucille Striker, Lena Powers, Olan Page and Lester Page. He is survived by his wife, Sandra Linney Page; son, James Mark Page (Cynthia) of Bay City; daughter, Linda Kay Davis (Mike) of Midfield; brother, Robert Lynn Page (Mary) of Riverside, Tx; brother-in-law, Mack Minor of Splendora; grandchildren, James Page II (Jennifer) of Katy, Bruce Davis (Kelly) of Mansfield, Ashley Brewer (Brandon) of Bay City, Christopher Page (Stephanie) of Bay City , Tori Moore (Joel) of San Antonio, Rebecca Buck (Todd) of Waxahachie, and Zane Davis of Houston; great-grandchildren, Callen Davis, Lawson Davis, Nolan Davis, Jude Moore, Max Moore, Kyndall Page, and James Page III due in July; plus many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

The family will receive friends and relatives 2:00-4:00 P.M., Sunday, April 28, at Taylor Bros. Funeral Home. Services are 10:00 A.M., Monday, April 29, at the funeral home with Brent Hairston officiating. Interment will follow at Midfield Cemetery. Pallbearer are his grandsons and grandsons-in-law. Honorary pallbearers are Roy Brewer, Wayne Frieda, David Huffman, Corky Powers, and Henry Siefert.
