James "Pat" Powell Nelson, 81, of Palacios passed away July 21, 2019. He was born August 21, 1937 in Palacios, TX to the late Herman Powell Nelson and Lois Beatrice Alton Nelson. Pat Nelson was born and raised in Palacios and lived in Cape Carancahua for 35 years. He retired from Alcoa in 1999. Pat was a dedicated member of the Palacios Church of Christ for over 40 years.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 50 years Melvina Griffith Nelson and two infant children Janice Renee Nelson and Eric Scott Nelson.

Survivors include daughters Cindy Everette & husband Eddie and Debra Peterson & husband Bryant; brother Jack Nelson; grandchildren Fanci Renee Turner, Skyler Nelson Purswell, Lyndee Raine Franklin, Jessie Cheyenne Peterson and Kanyon Bryant Peterson and great grandchildren West-Allen Turner, Bayou Turner and Anakin Franklin.

Graveside services will be 10:00 AM Friday, July 26, 2019 at the Francitas Cemetery with Brother Wayne DeDear officiating. Brother Shan Jackson leading song selections.

The family suggests memorials in his name be made to the Palacios Church of Christ; 516 Rorem; Palacios, TX 77465.
