James J. Murphree, 81, passed away April 9, 2011 in Kelseyville, CA. He was born July 11, 1929 in McCurtain County, OK to the late Leonard F. and Jettie Wooley Murphree. He was raised on the family farm in Markham, TX and was a veteran of the US Army during the Korean Conflict. After his military service, he lived and worked in the mid-west and California as a Tree Surgeon.
He is survived by his wife: Cheryl Little Murphree of Kelseyville, CA; his daughter: Kelly Lynn Murphree of Joplin, MO; step-son: Edward Teter of Joplin, MO; brother: Chris Murphree of Bay City, TX; sister: Lillie Buffaloe of Bay City, TX; and by a host of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents: and by 3 sisters: Fannie Cagle, Josie Ooms and an infant sister.
Graveside services will be held at 2:00 PM Friday, May 6, 2011 at Ashby Cemetery near El Maton, TX.
