Obituary

James Robert Craig Grebe was born August 31, 1985, in Bay City, and died March 22, 2011, in Fort Worth.

He is survived by: his parents, Lynn and Debra Grebe; his sisters and brothers-in-law, Suzette and Jon Selden of Austin, Penny and Mike Bergeron of Provo, and Celeste and Brandon Sipherd of New York City; his brother, Dennis Grebe of San Antonio; and his sister, Kathryn Grebe of Provo; his grandparents, Mary and Bob Grebe of Denver; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

He is also survived by the love of his life — his fiance, Lindsey Joy Janik of Fort Worth, and his future in-laws, Dan and Mary Jo Janik, and future sister-in-law, Jennifer Laird, all of Katy.

Craig was a third-year medical student at University of North Texas Health Science Center in Fort Worth, an honor graduate of Tulane University, and a 2004 graduate of Bay City High School, where he graduated in the Top Ten.

He was an outstanding football player, playing in three state championships for the Bay City Blackcats.

As a youth he enjoyed swimming and won five state championships, swimming breaststroke for the summer league. Many of his records still stand.

He enjoyed working with underprivileged children and taught swimming lessons; he worked as a lifeguard at Hilliard Pool for four years.

He enjoyed the outdoors and was an Eagle Scout.

He was engaged to be married to Lindsey Joy Janik on July 23, 2011.

Craig was diagnosed with Type I diabetes at age 15.

He took care of himself and was never seen without his diabetes pack. Diabetes was part of the Craig that we knew.

In life he was an inspiration to others. In death he will not be forgotten.

His funeral was held Saturday, March 26, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Bay City.

A scholarship fund is set up in his name at Wells Fargo, and donations may be made there.
