Obituary

James L. Grammer, 68, of Houston , passed away on July 15, 2016. He was born on September 14, 1947 in San Antonio, Texas to the late
James C. and Alberta Whoelke Grammer.

James proudly served his country during the Vietnam War in the U.S. Army as a member of the 573rd Engineer Company Float Bridge Group. He loved to ride his motorcycle with Betty, in the wind and traveling around the country. James loved his family and loved providing for them. James also loved the Lord.

James is survived by his wife of 30 years Betty Grammer of Houston; daughter Ruth Ann Somers of Baltimore, Maryland; son, Christopher James Grammer of Houston; grandchildren, Tom Somers, Jr., Jason Linares and Nicholas Grammer; sister, Kathy Carden, brother, Aaron Grammer; step-daughter Shawn Griner; step-granddaughters Missouri Griner and Tracy Sebastian,; step-grandsons Christopher Sabrsula and Jacob Sabrsula; great-grandchildren Zoe, Micah and Peyton Sebastian, Coltin Sabrsula, Jason and Isaac Sabrsula and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family will receive relatives and friends from Noon to service time on Thursday at the funeral home. Services will be 2:00pm Thursday, July 21, 2016 at Taylor Bros. Funeral Home with Pastor Mike James officiating. Interment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park in Van Vleck.

In lieu of flowers the family is requesting donations be made to his wife, Betty Grammer, or to the funeral home to help offset any funeral expenses.
