Obituary
James Paul Arnold, Jr., 50, of Bay City went home to heaven on November 24, 2015. He was born December 13, 1964 in Bay City, TX to James Paul Arnold, Sr. and Linda Bell Arnold.
When James was born, he became one of the first spina bifida patients to be treated with pioneering new medical technologies. Over his outstanding life, James endured many surgical procedures to help improve quality of life for him and many others.
James was one of the first physically disabled children to attend public school, in a time where accommodations for handicapped people were limited. During his school career, improvements such as ramps and wheelchair lifts provided accessibility to facilities for James and others in the community.
James loved Blackcat football, and when wheelchair access was added to the Blackcat stadium, James was proud to root for his team from the stadium stands. Following his graduation from Bay City High School in 1985, James attended the Edith Armstrong Center for many years.
James had very few limitations in his extraordinary life. Although handicapped, he was unlimited in his ability to achieve. James had tremendous faith in God which was reflected as he maintained a positive attitude despite the challenges he faced.
James, Jr. was preceded in death by grandparents Wilhem and Loretta Arnold and nieces Rachel Dutkiewicz and Angel Griffin. Survivors include his parents, James & Linda Arnold; sisters Rene Arnold Watson & Larry Forrest of Alvin, TX, Regina Arnold Alexander & Keith of The Woodlands and Tracie Arnold Griffin & Eddie of Sweeny; nieces and nephews Krysten Mabry, Eric Dutkiewicz, Katheryne Watson, Sean Dutkiewicz, Alexandria Griffin and Zachary Griffin and great niece and nephews Nova Nissen, Chase Arnold Margraves and Will Watson, as well as many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
The family will receive friends and relatives for visitation from 5 until 7PM Friday at Taylor Brothers Funeral Home, 2313 Ave I in Bay City. Funeral service will be 10:00 AM Saturday, November 28, 2015 at St. Peter Lutheran Church, 3000 9th St in Bay City with Rev. Laura Olson and Rev. Warren Mutz officiating. Interment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park. Pallbearers are Ozzie Arnold, Ben Arnold, David Sitz, Bradley Sitz, Buddy Treybig and Bart Szeinbach.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The March of Dimes or the Matagorda County Food Pantry.
