Jack Irby Conner, 66, of Bay City passed away Sunday, November 14, 2010 at his home. He was born May 16, 1944 in Jackson, Mississippi to the late Kathleen Irby & Lucian Conner. Jack has been a resident of Bay City since 1988, Current Senior Vice-President & Branch Manager of the First State Bank of Louise in Bay City, Elder & former Treasurer of the First Presbyterian Church of Bay City.

He graduated from Mississippi State University and LSU School of Banking, has the New York Stock Exchange General Securities Licenses, Military Service – ROTC 1962 -1966; active service in the Army 1966 – 1968; reserves through 1972. Retired as a captain, senior aide-de-camp to commanding general, Bay City Chamber of Commerce and Agriculture Man of the Year – 2000, Rotary Business Man of the Year – 1998, first President and founding Board member of Bay City Community Development Corporation, Vice President and Board Member of Bay City Cemetery Board, Former President, Treasurer and current member Rotary Club, former President of Bay City Chamber of Commerce and Agriculture and current Board member; former Treasurer and Board Member Bay City Country Club, current member of the Red Cross Board, former Secretary and Board member Matagorda County Economic Development Corporation; former President and Board Member of Matagorda County United Way; former Board member - Independent Bankers Association of Texas, Advisory Board Member of Economic Action Council of Gulf Coast and Gulf Coast Consumer Credit Counseling Service, Advisory Board Member of Austin Children's Hospital, Boys' Club of Austin, Texas Special Olympics, Austin March of Dimes, and former President and Board Member Austin Western Hills Youth Association, Austin Western Hills Athletic Association League Coordinator, Austin Chamber of Commerce.

Jack is survived by his wife: Gail Singleton Conner; 2 sons: Dr. Tod Singleton Conner & wife Leah and Robert Hardin Conner & wife Libbie; 2 sisters: Lucy Conner Denton and Jane Conner Walsh & husband Chuck; sister-in-law: Ann Bush; 5 grandchildren: Brantley Kathleen Conner, Sadie Grace Conner, Kelty Lawren Conner, Lucy Jane Conner, and McInnis Arthur Conner; and by very special loving nieces and nephews.

The family will receive visitors from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM Tuesday, November 16, 2010 at the funeral home. The funeral service will be held 2:00 PM Wednesday, November 17, 2010 at the First Presbyterian Church of Bay City with Rev. Hugh Jones and Rev. Mark Stoub officiating. Interment will be held 2:00 PM Friday, November 19, 2010 at the Parkway Memorial Cemetery in Ridgeland, Mississippi. Pallbearers will be: Richard Knapik, Charlie Allison, Sammie Joseph, Tom Hudgins, Steve Pearce, and Ronnie Miller.
