J. C. Langley, 78, of Burkeville died December 7, 2005. He was born
April 4, 1927 in Burkeville, Texas to Carey Jackson and Elsie Loraine Kerr Langley. A resident of Burkeville for 25 years, he formerly lived in Vidor and Houston. He was a member of First Church of God in Burkeville, a veteran of WWII and worked as a Supervisor for Southwestern Bell Telephone for 35 years.
He is survived by his wife, Porthania Langley of Burkeville; four daughters and three sons-in-law, Peggy & Thomas Gentry of Vidor, Debbie & Farron Wroblewski of Nashville, AR, Joyce Slack of Katy and Myra Sue & Kevin Mayo of Bay City; two sons & a daughter-in-law, Randall Langley of Burkeville & Tim & Becky Langley of Nacogdoches; four sisters R. V. Griggs, B. D. Warner, & Jimmie Johnson all of Burkeville, & Reva Westbrook of Tomball; twenty grandchildren and eighteen great grandchildren.
Funeral service will be 2:00 PM Friday at the First Church of God in Burkeville with Rev. Mike Welch & Rev. Rudolph Purtel officiating. Interment will follow at Tanner Cemetery in Burkeville. Pallbearers include Carl Gentry, Gary Gentry, Chris Tallant, Justin Stagner, Uriah Langley and Matt Bell. Memorials may be made to Every Home For Christ, PO Box 64000, Colorado Springs, CO 80960.
