J. B. Davenport, 76, of Matagorda went to be with The Lord on Thursday, September 12, 2013. He was born April 25, 1937 in Rosebud, TX to the late Hugh & Bess Vickers Davenport. J. B. was an avid fisherman who loved to spend time on the water with his family and friends. He spent about 25 years in the oil & gas industry as a Petroleum Engineer. After retiring, he went into the Real Estate Business. J. B. love for his family to spend time at his home in Matagorda on the Colorado River.
J. B. is survived by his wife: Glenda Davenport; 2 daughters: Cindy Janca & husband James and Jill Russell & husband Jeremy; son: Mike Davenport & wife Pam; 4 grandchildren: Taylor Janca & wife Jaquelyn, Chandler Janca, Payne Davenport, Clayton Davenport; and great grandson: Jenner Janca.
The Family will receive visitors from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM Saturday, September 14, 2013 at the funeral home. The funeral service will be held 2:00 PM Sunday, September 15, 2013 at Taylor Bros. Funeral Home in Bay City, TX. Interment will follow at Matagorda Cemetery. Pallbearers will be: Taylor Janca, Chandler Janca, Payne Davenport, Clayton Davenport, James Janca, and Mike Davenport.
