Irene Solnik, 75, passed away March 4, 2019 in Katy Texas. She was a loving mother, grandmother and devoted friend to many in the Bay City area.

Irene was born February 4, 1944 in Brooklyn, NY and raised in Miami Fl. She was preceded in death by her father Ezriel Solnik, mother Bella Jacobovich Solnik, sister Rosalie Weinstein, (along with her late husband Irving Weinstein) and Irene's former husband Jaime Meynarez.

Irene was a proud graduate of Texas Tech University where she earned both her bachelor's and master's degrees. She was retired from Matagorda County School System as a Vision and Hearing-impaired Teacher.

Irene spent her retirement years as a volunteer and strong advocate in area pet rescues, active with the Texas Democratic Party and a member of Congregation Shearith Israel in Wharton TX.

Irene is survived by her sons Emil Joseph Meynarez of Atlanta GA, (sons Aaron Meynarez, Zachary Meynarez and their mother Risa Meynarez),
Daniel Abraham Meynarez (wife Donna and son William Rohwer of Katy TX and Daniel's daughters Anna Meynarez and Kayla Arielle White of Bremen GA).

Niece Barbara Weinstein Schrader of Hollywood FL (children Laura Schrader, Elliot Schrader and Sara Worgess) and Nephew Richard Weinstein of Wheaton MD. (wife Hanna and son David).

A private memorial will be held at a later date.

Irene was an animal lover. It would be fitting to send a memorial in her honor to your local animal charity.
