Ira Russell Clements, Jr., longtime resident of Cedar Lane, Texas, passed away in his home February 4, 2008. He was born in Cedar Lane, Texas, on February 3, 1928, to Ira Russell Clements, Sr. and Flora Hamilton Clements. His love for his family gave him great pleasure. He will always be remembered by them and his many friends.
While a child, he professed faith in Jesus Christ and was baptized in Caney Creek. He attended Bay City High School. He worked and retired as an ironworker from the Local Union 84. He was also a life long farmer and rancher of Matagorda County, Texas.
He is survived by four children, Ira Russell Clements III of Houston, Texas, Clela Ruth Pausewang and her husband, Joe Pausewang, of Edna, Texas; Roger Albert Clements and his wife, Kathy Clements, of Cedar Lane, Texas; Linda Lee Haskovec and her husband, Mike Haskovec, of Clermont, Florida; his two sisters, Alyne Howard of Borger, Texas, and Tommye Slone and her husband, Charles Slone, of Richmond, Texas; his nine grandchildren, Wayne Clements, Angie Clements, Neil Clements, Stephanie Bossley, Jerry Beck, Denise Wilks, Jennifer Craig, Misty Helton, Jarid McGlothern; and fifteen great-grandchildren. During his later years he continued to be loved and supported by Dinah O'Neal of Cedar Lane, Texas, D. J. McGlothern of Brooksville, Florida, and Carol Clements of Cleveland, Texas. He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife of more than 50 years, Helen Pearl Clements.
The family will receive visitors on Wednesday, February 6, 2008, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Taylor Bros Funeral Home, 2313 Avenue I, Bay City, Texas. The funeral service will be at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, February 7, 2008, at Cedar Lane Baptist Church, Cedar Lane, Texas, with Randy Hatchett, Interim Pastor, officiating. Interment will follow at Matthew's Cemetery in Van Vleck.
Pallbearers will be Jerry Beck, Neil Clements, Wayne Clements, Glenn K. Howard, Jr., Jarid McGlothern, Dennis Moore, Richard O'Neal, Sr., Robert O'Neal, Don Ross, and Bruce Slone.
