Obituary

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Hubert E. Johnson, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and brother who left this world on February 2, 2025. Born on June 15, 1938, Bear, as he was fondly known, was a man who cherished his family and community. He was predeceased by his parents, Fred and Louise K. Johnson, and his brother, Carl Johnson.

A hardworking man, Hubert started his career in the Oil & Gas Industry in 1955 where he remained until his retirement in 2006. His exceptional work ethic and dedication were evident and respected by all who knew him. Not only a man of work, but he was also a man of faith; a loyal attendee of the First Methodist Church of Bay City, Texas.

In the midst of his thriving career, love found its way into Hubert's heart as he met and married Donna McCrosky in 1956. The love story they shared bloomed into a beautiful family, with daughters Debbie Wofford, Lisa Treece, Susan Johnson-Gonzales and his many grandchildren and great grandchildren whom he dearly loved.

Hubert was indeed a family man, but he also had a love for the outdoors. He enjoyed camping, RVing, fishing and hunting. A lover of country music, old western movies, and spending precious time with his family, his presence was always warm and inviting.

His passing has left a void in many lives. He is survived by his wife, Donna M. Johnson, his daughters Debbie Wofford, Lisa Treece (Tony), and Susan Johnson-Gonzales (Johnnie), his grandchildren Todd Wofford, Chad Wofford, Stacey Todd, Kirk Schumacher, Tori Pasket, Brittany Gonzales, Cassie Mathews, Chance Gonzales, and his sister Freda Johnson. Each one holds countless memories that are sure to keep his spirit alive in their hearts.

The viewing will be held on February 6, 2025, at 4:00pm - 6:00pm, with a funeral service following on February 7, 2025, at 1:00pm, both at Taylor Bros. Funeral Home. It is here we will bid our final farewell to Hubert, whose unwavering strength and love will continue to inspire us all.
