Howard Owen Richey, 56, of Markham passed away Sunday December 13, 2009 in Houston. He was born December 15, 1952 in Aransas Pass, Texas to the late Lloyd and Joy Dorris Richey. He is now with his heavenly father and no longer has to suffer here on earth.

Owen was involved with drag racing in the 70's and mud racing in the 90's. He thought highly of all his friends, family, and acquaintances. Owen respected his elders and cared for the less fortunate. He lived a life with few regrets, and always had a story about "the good ol' days". Owen took pride in his grandson "his lil pistol"; he served his country for four years, and was proud to be a veteran. He will be loved and missed.

Owen is survived by his daughter: Danne' Richey of Markham; grandson: Reid Jurek of Markham; 2 brothers: Edwin & Mary Richey of Orchard TX and Lee & Nancy Richey of Victoria; sister: Sandra & Steve Johnson of Wharton; and 7 nieces and nephews.

The family will receive visitors from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM Wednesday, December 16, 2009 at Palacios Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held 2:00 PM Thursday, December 17, 2009 at the First Baptist Church of Markham with Rev. Howard Harper officiating. Interment will follow at Hawley Cemetery in Blessing Texas. Pallbearers will be: Colton Pierce, Grady Quinney, Steve Klingaman, Mike Jenkins, Richard Kubena, and Philip Walker.
