Homer Andrew Vos, 88 of Van Vleck died August 21, 2005 at the Specialty Hospital in Houston, TX. He was born October 14, 1916 in Almyra, AR to the late Charlie Andrew and Ina Belle Rollison Vos. Mr. Vos was a member of the First Baptist Church in Van Vleck for the past 50 years. He was a resident of Van Vleck since 1955. He came to Texas in 1939 and worked first for Abercrombie in Sweeny for 15 years, during which time he also served in the US Army Air Corps from 1941-1945.
He retired from Brown & Root Construction Co. in 1981 after 26 years as a welder and pipe fitter.
Survivors include: 2 daughters and a son-in-law: Robin Vos Havard of Wharton, TX and Janet Vos & Michael Amtower of Lake Jackson, TX; son and daughter-in-law: Gary A. and Angela Vos of Katy, TX; brother: Glenn Vos of Almyra, AR; and 7 grandchildren: Kelly & Marc Amtower of Denton, TX, Randie, Jeff, & Carly Havard all of Wharton, TX, and Brandon & Lindsay Vos both of Katy, TX. He was preceded in death by his wife of 45 years Alma Faye Vos.
Funeral Service will be 10:00 AM Thursday, August 25, 2005, at the First Baptist Church in Van Vleck with Rev. Russell Davis officiating. Interment will be at 3:30 PM Thursday at the McAdams Cemetery Bedias, TX. Pallbearers will be Mike Amtower, Tommy Havard, Bret, Jack , and John Hutson, Donnie O'Connell, and Dan O'Connell. Honorary Pallbearers will be the Men's Sunday School Class of the First Baptist Church. The family will receive friends at Taylor Bros. Funeral Home Wednesday evening form 6:00 to 8:00 PM.
