Obituary

Homer W. Cartwright, 86, of Bay City, passed away Thursday, February 12, 2009. He was born August 17, 1922 in Matagorda County to Greenberry Savage Cartwright and Blanche Myrtle Ingham Cartwright. He was a life long resident of Matagorda County, a member of the First Christian Church of Bay City, and was a US Army veteran of World War II, and was severely wounded during the Normandy invasion.

He is survived by his sons: David Cartwright and wife Linda of Bay City, and Gary Cartwright and wife Janell of Decatur; his sisters: Nita Bell of Bastrop and Mary Louise Toups of Louisiana; his brothers: Travis Cartwright of Wadsworth, Howard "Pete" Cartwright of Palestine, Robbie Cartwright of Clear Lake and Charles "Bully" Cartwright of Austin; and by his grandchildren: Chance Cartwright, Josh Cartwright and Holly Cartwright. He was preceded in death by his parents: Blanche M. and Greenberry S. Cartwright; and by his brother: Milford "Mack" Cartwright.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Sunday, February 15, 2009, at Taylor Bros. Funeral Home Chapel with Robert Fraley officiating. Interment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park in Van Vleck with military honors provided by VFW Post 2438.
