Hollie B. Hairston, 77, of Bay City passed from this life November 3, 2007. He was born October 1, 1930 in Cameron, Texas to the late Hollie B. Hairston, Sr. and Carrie Lee Johns Hairston. He met Joy Hoelewyn in late 1955 and they were married February 24, 1956. He was baptized into the Lord in West Columbia in 1957. He and Joy moved to Bay City in 1961. He was instrumental in establishing the Matthews St. Church of Christ in 1965; retired from Phillips 66 in 1994 after 46 years as lab technician; and enjoyed country life including caring for his cows, horses and dogs.

Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Joy of Bay City; daughter Keri Disney of Dallas; son Brent Hairston & wife Krissie of Bryan; sister Amy June Vahue of Bay City and one granddaughter JinLi Hairston.

The family will receive friends and relatives from 5pm to 7pm Monday, November 5, 2007 at the funeral home. Funeral service will be 10:00 AM Tuesday, November 6, 2007 at Taylor Bros. Funeral Home with Bro. Michael Gibson and Bro. Eddie Callender officiating. Interment will be 4:00 PM Tuesday at the Walkers Creek Cemetery in Cameron, Texas. Pallbearers will be Brent Hairston, Bentley Hause, Thomas McReynolds, Bill Sieben, David Huffman and David Krenek.
