Mrs. Hoa Thi Nguyen, 101, of Palacios passed away on Wednesday, November 24, 2021.  She was born in Ha Noi, Vietnam on January 18, 1920 to the late Dong M. Nguyen and Thuan T. Hoang.  Mrs. Nguyen was a resident of Palacios and a member of the Catholic Church.

She enjoyed cooking, knitting, gardening, spending time with her family, watching Vietnamese soap operas and the "Price is Right".

She is survived by her daughter Kim Chau (Linh); daughters-in-law Hien Nguyen, Shirley Woo; grandchildren Stephanie Rodgers (Zetrick), Jennifer Chau, Mary Richardson (Chris), Holly Fulkerson (Dan), Julie Hicks, M.D. (Taylor), Michael Vu, Peter Vu (Nhi); great-grandchildren Caitlin Rodgers, Brayden Richardson, Brett Richardson, Lily Fulkerson, Daniel Fulkerson, Elise Hicks, Colton Hicks, Audrianna Vu, and Alexander Vu. She is preceded in death by her husband Ngon V. Vu and sons Hai K. Vu and Viet Q. Vu.

Visitation will be at the Palacios Funeral Home from 4:00pm-6:00 pm on Thursday, December 2, 2021.  Mass will be on Friday, December 3, 2021, from 5:30-6:30pm at Our Lady of Assumption Chapel in Palacios. Funeral services will be on Saturday, December 4, 2021, at 10:00 am at Our Lady of Assumption Chapel in Palacios.  Interment will follow at the Palacios Cemetery.  A Celebration of Life Luncheon will be held after all services have been completed on Saturday, December 4, 2021, at Our Lady of Assumption Banquet Hall.

The family would like to give our sincerest thanks and appreciation to Dr. Barbara Hayes, DNP, FNP-C, and the amazing staff at Matagorda Family Practice for their great medical care, ensuring Mrs. Nguyen's comfort and always making sure she had a smile on her face. We would also like to thank Mrs. Lori Bong Beyer, Mrs. Caramelita Zamora, Mrs. Ana Maria Maldonado and Mrs. Dolores Lopez for their daily care and comfort of Mrs. Nguyen. We would also like to thank the EMS Service, Chief Riviera and the Palacios Police Department, and the Vietnamese Catholic Community for their care for Mrs. Nguyen.
