Hilda "Tootsie" Roe, 82, of Bay City, passed away Sunday, January 25, 2009. She was born December 23, 1926 in Chilton, TX to Noah Andrew Johnson and Lizzie Gertrude Mircale Johnson. She was a lifelong resident of Bay City and a Life Member of VFW Post 2438 Ladies Auxiliary.

She is survived by her daughter: Donna Davis & husband Jimmy of Van Vleck; by her son: John E. "Butch Roe & wife Peggy of Van Vleck; by 7 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband: John H. "Johnny" Roe; her parents: Noah A. & Lizzie M. Johnson; by her son: Steven E. Roe, Sr., by sisters: Minnie Miller, Ann Roe and Eula Casey; and brothers: Jimmy and Chester Johnson.

The family will receive visitors from 6 PM to 8 PM Tuesday at the funeral home. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Wednesday, January 28, 2009 at Taylor Bros. Funeral Home with Rev. Lee Watson officiating. Interment will follow at Cedarvale Cemetery in Bay City, TX. Pallbearers include: Ronnie Radford, David Dawson, John Crawford, Frank Schultz, Gary Murphree and Wayne Murphree. Honorary pallbearers will include Butch Roe, Jay Roe, Steven Roe, Jr., Jimmy Davis, Ed Miller, Marvin Leverett and Chris Murphree.
