Obituary

Hilda Leona Flint Hasley was born March 24, 1923 in Ballengee, West Virginia to the late Wilber B. & Elsie Richardson Flint. She passed away peacefully April 6, 2010 at her granddaughter's home in Angleton, Texas.

Hilda was a nurse until her retirement at age 79, once a nurse, always a nurse. She started out at the old Palacios Hospital under Dr. Wilcox and retired with her beloved friend, Dr. Pesek. To hear her talk about delivering babies and helping people was a joy. She treated all people equally, had a caring touch, and was a feisty lady until the end. She loved life, God, church, family, friends, fishing, water, hunting, reading traveling and helping friends. The last book she read was "Going Rogue" by Sarah Palin.

Cynthia Schomer, Diane Tyra, Monek Grey, Jean Adams, Francis Leatherwood and a long list of others were special friends to her. She is survived by granddaughter Pam Hasley Willy & husband Monte; great grandson Nicholas Meade; nieces & nephews Elsie Givens & husband Wayne, Delores Schaefer & husband Harvey, Jerry Lee Payne, Sandra Wisofsky Pickrel & husband Mike & Aloa English; great-great niece Zoe; sister Ora Mae Lemons of Fredericksburg, VA.

Hilda loved Robert James "Bob" Hasley as her own son. He and his father, William R. Hasley, preceded her in death as well as great grandson Jason Benge; 2 sister: Martha Flint Payne and Velma Meadows; 5 brothers: Harold, Austin, Woodrow, Ernest & Mason Flint all preceded her in death.

She asked her friends to please make a donation to the Building Fund at the First Baptist Church of Palacios; 202 Main St.; Palacios, TX 77465. Her church was her family. She loved God with all of her heart. Psalm 121 was one of her favorites. The family would like to extend special thanks to A & A Ambulance Services, Bethany Home Health Services & Hospice, especially to Andrea who has been outstanding.

The family will receive friends and relatives from 6pm to 8pm Wednesday at the funeral home. Graveside services will be 10:00 AM Thursday, April 8, 2010 at Hawley Cemetery in Blessing with Rev. Zach Nicholson officiating. Honorary pallbearers will be Jerry Lee Payne, Wayne Givens, Chris Wisofsky, Harvey Lee Schaefer Jr., Harvey Schaefer, Matt Schaefer, Mike Pickrel and Monte Willy.
