Henry J. "Tata" Wendel, 83, of Bay City passed away January 3, 2012. He was born February 22, 1928 in Hillje, Texas to the late Pete Wendel and Anna Erdelt Wendel. Henry was a member of Holy Cross Catholic Church.
He was a well-respected man who loved working cattle, camping and trail riding having even received awards for being the oldest trail rider in attendance as well as being the oldest rider actually on a horse. He was a loving husband for 63 years and a dedicated father who loved being with his family. Henry was a kind and gentle man who never hesitated to help anyone in need.
Survivors include his wife Dorothy Kasparek Wendel of Bay City; daughters Irene Parr & husband Johnny of Markham, Adeline Tedder & husband Thomas of Lake Limestone, TX and Maryann Rush & husband Dennis of Markham; son Donald Wendel of Bay City; brother Johnny Wendel of Glen Flora; grandchildren Stacey Johnson & husband Jimmy, Vanessa Ferguson & husband Cody, Shanna Tedder, Amy Harman, Justin Rush & Jarret Rush and two great grandchildren Hunter and Tristen Ferguson.
A rosary will be recited at 6:30 PM Friday, January 6, 2012 at the funeral home. Funeral service will be 10:00 AM Saturday, Jan. 7, 2012 at Taylor Bros. Funeral Home with Father Casey Jarzombek officiating. Interment will follow at Hawley Cemetery in Blessing. Pallbearers will be Dennis Naiser, Pat Gwosdz, Kenneth Schoenvogel, Glen Riha, Jimmy Johnson and Tom Hundl. Donations in Henry's memory may be made to the charity of your choice. Henry will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
