IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Helen Ethel
Poessel
July 16, 1935 – September 4, 2025
Helen Ethel Poessel, 90, of Blessing peacefully passed away on September 4, 2025. She was born July 16, 1935, to the late Benedict and Annie (Heinrich) Kutach in El Campo, Texas.
Helen was a devoted member of St. Peter's Catholic Church for 42 years, faithfully attending the Saturday vigil mass and rosary without fail. She was a member of KJZT for 70 years. Her life was rooted in hard work and deep faith, shaped by her early years spent picking cotton in the fields and walking two miles to a one-room schoolhouse. Helen graduated from Palacios High School in 1953. Helen and her husband Louis were ranchers and farmers. She cultivated a thriving two-acre garden, rich with fruits, vegetables, and herbs, which she tended with care and pride. Helen found joy in the simple pleasures of life — camping with loved ones, listening to the radio and classic country music, and cherishing every moment spent with her family. Her warmth, resilience, and unwavering spirit will be deeply missed.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 42 years, Louis Poessel, her first husband, Johnnie Novak, and sisters Adela (Virgil) Farley, Annie (Joe) Orsak, and Thelma Orsak.
Survivors include sons Michael (Judy) Novak of Palacios, Richard Novak of Humble, Andy (Mary) Novak of Lake Jackson; daughters Johnnie Marie Pechacek of Houston, Carolyn (Darrell) Sohr of Angleton, Theresa Henkes of Blessing; stepchildren Louis (Debbie) Poessel of Palacios and Danny (Kathleen) Poessel of Blessing; 22 grandchildren and 37 great grandchildren.
The family will receive visitors at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 11, 2025, at St. Peter's Catholic Church in Blessing.
