Mary Helen Lewis, beloved wife, mother, sister, aunt and grandmother, passed away on the afternoon of Sept. 20, 2012. Her family rejoices in the fact that she has gone home to be with her precious Lord & Savior, Jesus Christ.

Helen was born in Linden, TX May 11, 1935 and was the oldest of five children born to Emmitt & Almer Smith. She was married to James Edward Lewis and lived most of her adult life in Van Vleck, TX where they raised four children.

She is survived by children Gail Denn & husband Vernon of Bay City, Mark Lewis & wife Leila of Bay City and James Lewis & wife Sherry of Brazoria; daughter-in-law Benny Lewis of Bay City; brothers Harold & Horace Ray Smith; sister-in-law Nadine Bowman; grandchildren Jason Lewis, Danny Denn & wife Bobbi, Tammy Smith & husband Trey, Brian Lewis & wife Robbie, Seth Lewis, Sadie Lewis, Joshua Lewis, Brittany Lewis & Tiffany Lewis; five great grandchildren and numerous nieces & nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents Emmitt & Almer Smith, husband James Edward Lewis, son Larry Lewis, granddaughter Bridgette Lewis and sister Glenda Matura.

The family will receive visitors from 5pm to 7pm Sunday at the funeral home. Funeral service will be 10:00 AM Monday, September 24, 2012 at Bay City Baptist Church with Rev. Lee Watson officiating. Interment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park in Van Vleck. Pallbearers will be Gary Baldridge, Michael Baldridge, Tommy Matura, Donald Smith, Roger Abercrombie & Ryan Marshall.
