Hazel Ray, 95, of Bay City passed away Jan. 29, 2009. She was born Dec. 2, 1913 in Hughes Springs, TX to the late Samuel Columbus & Lucy Morgan Norwood. She was a member of the First Christian Church in Bay City and taught Sunday School and Bible Class for many years.

Hazel was preceded in death by her husband H. H. "Bully" Ray in 1996, brother Hardy Norwood, and 3 sisters Violet Mooney, Sylvia Dancer, and Joyce Peterson. Survivors include daughter Linda Lou Salyer of Bay City; sons Samuel Franklin Ray & wife Sherry of Dangerfield, TX, Steve Clinton Ray & wife Barbara of Lake Jackson, Elton Lynn Ray & wife Carol of Ore City, TX and Terry Neal Ray of Denton, TX; brother John Thomas Norwood of Hampshire, TX; five grandchildren John Ray, Brook Ray, Doug Ray & wife Barb, Chris Ray and Laura Eckerd & husband Steven and five great grandchildren Tyler, Dylan & Spencer Ray and Katie & Maddie Eckerd.

Funeral service will be 2:00 PM Sunday at Taylor Bros. Funeral Home with Bro. Tom Quirk officiating. Interment will be at Roselawn Memorial Park in Van Vleck. Memorials may be made to the charity of your choice.
