Hazel Bass, 56 of West Columbia, passed away Friday, July 7, 2006 in Houston, TX. She was born February 15, 1950 in Bay City to Eston Stansell and Pauline Naomi Shannon Stansell. She has been a resident of West Columbia since 1980.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law: Lee Ann & David W. Riley of Bryan, TX; by her son: David Paul Bass of West Columbia; her sisters: Dorothy M. Wakefield and Anita Stansell of Bay City; and by her granddaughter: Harlee Paige Riley of Bryan. She was preceded in death by her brothers: James Fortenberry, Troy Stansell, and Orvill Stansell.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Wednesday, July 12, 2006 at Taylor Bros. Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Hawley Cemetery in Blessing. Pallbearers will be Billy Ray Clifton, Clint Allen Fortenberry, Kirk David Fortenberry, Scott Baker, John L. Bass and Clancy "Boog" Baxter. Honorary pallbearers will be Kyle Williams and Mike Wakefield.
