Harry Raymond Hesidence, 83, of Bay City passed away Monday, October 19, 2015. He was born January 23, 1932 in Tucson, Arizona to the late Andrew Paul & Bernice Roberts Hesidence. He graduated from Tucson Senior High School in 1951, joined the Air Force and served at Davis-Monthan AFB in Tucson. In 1954 he graduated from Parks College of St. Louis University and received his FAA license as an aircraft & engine mechanic. In 1960 he graduated from the University of Arizona with his B.S. in mechanical engineering. He went through the 3 year training program at General Electric including one year in Richland, Washington at the Hanford Atomic Energy Plant, giving him a background which brought him to the then Houston Lighting & Power Co. and to the South Texas Nuclear Plant in Bay City, Texas in 1985. He retired there in 1995. On August 7, 1954 Harry married Julia Rourke at Saints Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Tucson, Arizona. They celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary in 2014.
Harry is survived by his wife of 61 years: Julia Rourke Hesidence of Bay City, Texas; 3 children: James Paul Hesidence & wife Tricia of San Antonio, Texas Mary Jo Hesidence Ellis of Katy, Texas and Mark Hesidence & wife Becky of Richmond, Texas; sister: Patricia Hesidence Kearsley of San Antonio, Texas; and 6 grandchildren: Emily, Alex, and Matt Hesidence, Chris Dowdell, Katie Ellis, and Victoria Abreu. He was preceded in death by his parents.
The family will receive visitors from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM Tuesday, October 27, 2015 at the funeral home with a Rosary at 6:00 PM. Interment will be held at the Houston National Cemetery at 1:00 PM Wednesday, Oct. 28, 2015 with Military Honors.
