Haleigh Marie Matchett, 17 of Van Vleck passed away September 2, 2024. She was born August 21, 2007, in Bay City, TX to Matthew Allen Matchett and Courtney Harper.

Haleigh had an infectious smile, always happy. She never met a stranger, and she had a heart for all people and would do anything for anyone.

Haleigh came to know the Lord 3 years ago at church camp. She spent many hours of her time reading the word and she dearly loved the Lord.

Haleigh was a senior in FFA and on the yearbook staff at Van Vleck High School. She could be found at all the sporting events she could attend and was known as the school photographer.

She was preceded in death by her Uncle Stephen Matchett, and Great Uncle Paul Lowery whom she loved dearly. She is survived by her father, Matthew Matchett (Jessica Saucedo) of Van Vleck; mother, Courtney Harper of Bay City; grandparents/guardians, Larry and Susie Matchett of Van Vleck, Michelle D'Elisiis of Midfield, Joe and Donnette Harper of West Columbia; brother, Da'Mian Matchett of Van Vleck; sisters, Cecelia Harper of Midfield, Kendyll Pena, Novah and Leightyn Matchett of Van Vleck; aunts and uncles, Amy and Matthew Hackworth, Mike and Missy Lowery, Clint and Becky Lowery, Alyssa and Derek Nance, Joseph and Bekah Harper, Joan Hansen, Becky and Eugene Dagley, and Susan and Bal Cadena; cousins, Lakyn and Laynee Matchett, Kayla Hackworth, Gage, Peytyn, and Logen Nance, Bentley, Luna, Greysyn, and Rhiannon Harper; along with numerous other cousins, extended family, and friends.

The family will receive relatives and friends for visitation from 1:00 – 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 11, 2024, at The First Baptist Church in Bay City. Funeral services will begin at 2:00 p.m. with Clint Lowery officiating. Interment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park in Van Vleck. Pallbearers for Haleigh will be Tanner Birchum, Wade Hutson, Coach Jim Ashworth, Clint Johnson, Clayton Dumesnil, Da'Mian Matchett, Gage Nance and Joseph Harper. Honorary Pallbearers will be Lakyn and Laynee Matchett, Ava Cervantes, Lesley Hoffman, Emily Dunbar, Kodi Gray, Emily Rodgers and Kassidy Roe.
