H. B. Howard, 96, of Palacios died at his residence September 17, 2005. He was born February 24, 1909 in Goose Rock, Clay Co., KY to the late Jesse and Elizabeth Asher Howard. Mr. Howard was a resident of Palacios the past 10 years, a former resident of Point Comfort, and Mexia, TX, and was a member of the Point Comfort Assembly Of God Church. He was the owner and operator of the Howard Oil Company in Mexia, TX.

Survivors include: daughter-in-law: Gerry Howard of Palacios; brothers: E. C. Howard of Okmulgee, OK and Caleb Howard of Kansas City, MO; 7 grandchildren: Thomas Dale, Stephen Lynn, Randall Dale, and Charles Alfred Howard, Teresa Carter, Nancy Lee and Patricia Howard; 14 great grandchildren, and 5 great great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife of 75 years Hazel Howard October 2003; his 2 sons: Kenneth Dale and Charles Alfred Howard; sisters: Ophie Morgan, Alice Markley, Florence Fisher, and Laura Bowling; and his brothers: Israel, John, Lee, and Daw William Howard.

Funeral Service will be 11:00 AM Tuesday, September 20, 2005 at the Palacios Funeral Home with Rev. Kenyon Hamilton officiating. Interment will follow at the Midfield Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Thomas Dale, Randall, and Kenneth Howard, David Roberts, Jonathan Lee, and Charles Alfred Howard, Jr. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00PM Monday evening at the Palacios Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the First Assembly of God Church of Point Comfort, TX.
