Gunter Samuel Kelly, 37, of Palacios passed away February 6, 2022.  He was born October 23, 1984 in San Benito, TX.

Gunter was a devoted son, brother, father, nephew and friend. He struggled with many things in life, from stuttering to being separated so much from his daughter Abby, who was his world. He was highly intelligent, a remarkable outdoorsman, hunter, trapper, snake handler, fisherman and a master at woodworking. He especially loved the time he had with Abby, exploring his large pond where he taught her about fish frogs, etc. They loved the arcade at the movie theater, and him pushing her in a cart all over Walmart while laughing like two ten year old's.

Gunter was a Christian and believed in prayer to get him through each day. He was in a lot of pain physically and mentally during the last few months before God called him home.

He is survived by his mother Shirley Ann Kelly; his brother Travis Rodgers; his daughter Abby Appleton, and her mother Debbie Appleton; step-father Chris Clements; nephew Cam Rodgers; niece Raquel Rodgers and, aunt and uncle Joyce and Jim Bannerot.

Visitation will begin at 1:00 PM Friday, February 11, 2022 at the Palacios Funeral Home.  Funeral services will be at 2:00 PM with Travis Rodgers officiating.  Interment will follow at Hawley Cemetery.  Pallbearers will be Paul Saustrup, Stanley Wright, Chris Harvey, Randy Goslin, Pablo Rocha and Andy Arnold. Honorary pallbearer is Kenny Hall.
