Gloria Camille Smith, 96, of Bay City passed away March 21, 2014. She was born September 28, 1917 in Brazoria County, TX to the late Calvin E. Martin and Rosie Miller Martin. She was a devoted member of The First Presbyterian Church, where she dedicated 52 years to caring for children in the nursery there.

She was preceded in death by son Herschel Scott Smith and daughter Rose Earlene Faldyn; brother Calvin Martin; sisters Sarah Gollott and Annie Richardson; step-sister Lillie Rose Keith and grandson Ricky Faldyn.

Survivors include her brother Ewing Martin (Odale) of Willis, TX; daughter Joyce Hargis of Austin, TX; sons James E. Smith (Shriley) and Larry Smith of Bay City and Curtis Smith of Brazoria; 9 grandchildren, 3 step grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, 13 step great grandchildren, 6 great-great grandchildren and 1 step great-great granddaughter.

The family will receive friends and relatives from 6pm until 8pm Thursday, March 27, 2014 at Taylor Bros. Funeral Home. Funeral service will be 10:00 am Friday, March 28, 2014 at the First Presbyterian Church with Rev. Sam Steele officiating. Interment will follow at Cedarvale Cemetery in Bay City. Gloria's Grandsons will serve as Pallbearers.

We wish to thank the Houston Hospice staff at Senior Care Matagorda General and the staff of Bay Villa Nursing Home for providing our Mother with the loving care she needed in her finale days.
