Gloria Smith Harvey Arledge, a native of Bay City, TX was born March 3, 1925. She completed her earthbound journey and went to be with her savior Jesus Christ on Wednesday, May 6, 2009.

Gloria was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, and devoted nurse. She was a high school graduate from Bay City High School and went on to graduate from Houston Nursing School earning her RN License. After nursing school she began her career as a registered nurse at Matagorda General, Eventually becoming head surgical nurse. Many years later Gloria went to work as school nurse for the Bay City Independent School District, where she eventually retired.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Jim and Bessie Smith; brother, Jimmy Smith; husband Don Harvey; and life long friend Becky Avriett.

Gloria left behind love in the hearts of her children, son, Wayne & his wife Terri Harvey of Huntsville, daughters Ann Fondon & husband Curtis of Angleton and Lynne Bradley of Seabrook; sisters, Anita Senkyrik of Cedar Lane, Jayne Kelly of Sweeny & Jean Ann Tatum of Wadsworth. Also left missing her are her grandchildren Robert Harvey & wife Jennifer, Dennis Harvey & wife Leslie, Stephanie Bullard & husband Jason, Stuart Fondon & wife Kellie, Jonathon Pavlovsky & wife Leanne, Duane Pavlovsky & wife Erika, Kara Rice & husband Brad as well as 11 great grandchildren and a multitude of nieces & nephews; step-children Sue Brown & husband Brian of Georgia, Dana Arledge & wife Valerie of Michigan & Donald Arledge & wife Sharon of Michigan & a number of step-grandchildren and step-great grandchildren.

A visitation will begin at 10:30 AM Saturday, May 9, 2009 at the funeral home. Funeral service will be 2:00 PM Saturday, May 9, 2009 at Taylor Bros. Funeral Home with Pastor Dana Arledge officiating. Interment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park in Van Vleck. Pallbearers will be Robert Harvey, Mark Senkyrik, Stuart Fondon, Curtis Fondon, Jason Bullard & Brad Rice. Memorials may be made to the charity of your choice.
