Glen Dale Oliver, 74, of Kingwood, TX died January 22, 2006 at the Houston Hospice Care Center in Houston, TX. He was born September 30, 1931 in Bay City, TX to the late Sterling Bervard & Freida Martha Kettler Oliver. Mr. Oliver was a resident of Kingwood the past 4 years and a former longtime resident of Bay City. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Bay City, and a veteran of the Korean War serving in the US Army. He retired from Phillips Petroleum Co. In 1991 with some 20 years of service.
Survivors include his wife of 54 years Sharon Henry Oliver of Kingwood, TX; 2 daughters & sons-in-law: Pamela & Benjamin Smith of Friendswood, TX and Cecille & Marty Stitt of Kingwood, TX; son: Dale Sterling Oliver of Beaumont; 7 grandchildren: Dustin and Derek Smith, Claire, Connor, & Chandler Stitt, and Sterling and William Oliver; 3 nieces: Gayle Oliver Wiggins and Linda Oliver Green both of Bay City, and Valerie Hurst Jernigan of Longview; 3 nephews: Jimmy Oliver of Lake Jackson, Ab Hurst of Longview, and Clayton Hurst of Kingwood, TX. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brother & sister-in-law Curtis & Deenie Oliver.
A Funeral Service will be 2:00 PM Tuesday, January 24, 2006, at the First United Methodist Church with Rev. Clayton Hurst and Rev. Pauline Harvey officiating. Interment will follow at Cedarvale Cemetery. Pallbearers are Gary Green, Al Blaylock, Donald Pollard, Tom Burchfield, Jim Loos, and Bill Hurst. Arrangements with Taylor Bros. Funeral Home.
