Gerard Louis Bodenburg III, also known as Bubba and Bodie, aged 63, of Bay City, TX passed away peacefully on December 5, 2024, in San Antonio, TX. He was born on November 11, 1961, to the late Gerard and Betty Carter Bodenburg, Jr.

Bubba graduated from Bay City High School in 1980. As a young man, Bubba enjoyed bull riding and rodeo. He welcomed the challenge. There wasn't a bull out there that he wouldn't ride, and he had the scars to prove it. In his later years, his hobbies included hunting, fishing, working on his trucks, following the PBR circuit regularly, and riding his Harley. Bubba loved going to the beach, four wheeling in the sand, getting a rod wet, and always enjoying a few beers with friends.

Bubba had a successful career working as a journeyman millwright. He worked at several Houston area plants, notably Marathon. He was well-acquainted with every turbine compressor unit there was. He was always pulling pranks and being silly with his infectious personality and laughter. He never met a stranger.

Left to remember him fondly is his cherished son, Justin Carter Bodenburg and daughter-in-law, Katie; his sister Sheri Brune; brother Robert Bodenburg and his loyal, and well-trained dog Black. He was preceded in death by his parents, as well as sisters Deborah Poston and Susie Bodenburg.

The family will receive relatives and friends for visitation at 9:00am Thursday, December 12, 2024, at Taylor Bros. Funeral Home in Bay City, Texas. Funeral services will begin at 10:00am with Matt Springfield officiating. Interment will follow at Cedarvale Cemetery, where he will be laid to rest alongside his parents.
